    For years now I’ve been starting each day by writing what I am grateful for. I believe this simple practice has served my emotional, mental and physical health more than any other to set the tone for my day’s journey. jm

      Thanks for reminding me. I did this for a while, but let it fall away. I do remember what a difference it makes and will put my journal beside my bed tonight. iggy

        Each day as my feet touch the carpeting while getting out of bed, I say thank you, thank you, thank you. I find that when I am greatful the problems of the day seem so small in comparison.

    An activity that I cherish and make a sacred part of my weekly life to keep my senses alive and tuned is to walk and meditate in nature. I have a spot in the park which is my refuge from overstimulation. Rain, snow or shine, I come to this place I have designated for my rejuvenation. Nature and my guidance always meet me there and surround me with nurturing, healing energy. Many times I enter this space distracted or emotionally scattered. With gentle breathing and stillness, my senses restore themselves. I once again come home to my body. I will often meditate and when I open my eyes, the beauty which I had not seen, heard, smelled or touched is now gloriously apparent. My senses rejoice and revel in being treated to natural wonder, free from outside assault or internal dulling through thoughts of the past or future. My senses thrive on the present, magnify it and create intimacy with all my world. This is not to say it is always rapture. Sometimes I pick up litter that I might have formerly ignored. But even this has a kind of joy to it because it is an act of love in which I cannot engage when my senses are dulled. Refreshing my senses in nature allows me to be the lover I want rather than search for one to save me from the prison of my overactive mind. For me, my senses thus respected and renewed, become channels for grace and my doorway to the divine.
